Exploring a Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have found a variety of engaging creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game includes a character that is actually a dung striving to navigate to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."
Player controls is simple: you only need a single jump button. In one hundred fifty stages, encounter tough enemies and unlock a shop to acquire outfits for your dung hero.
Execute your actions with caution, as a error requires beginning again. Bounce using air pockets to hurl your character to new heights, traverse fragile platforms, and interact with triggers to unlock hidden paths. Earn currency to purchase more difficult stages as things gets crazy.
Graphically, the experience features neon stages and an amazing music score. The retro graphics with shifting abstract forms evokes memories of players of beloved games like Earthbound.
Although difficult to think of other games where you are a piece of feces, video games frequently featured scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme is present a lot in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, like winning at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible now on Steam, with the final release set to launch on PC in the fall.
